SARASOTA, FL—Earlier last week, College Club Swimming released mid-season event rankings for the nation. The results showed that several Utah Club Swim & Dive athletes have already achieved top 20 rankings, and with well over three months of training left before the 2018 national competition, Utah is poised for their strongest championship meet yet.
Freshman standout Alina Barnes posted the #13 and #17 time in the women’s 500 free (5:47.38 and 5:51.31, respectively) and the #20 spot in the women’s 200 free (2:03.12). Vice President and Junior Connor Morgan came in at #14 in the men’s 50 back with his 25.85 from the Buff Invitational. Transfer senior Kaleb Rodarte is ranked in both the men’s 200 IM (#17-2:02.66) and 400 IM (#13-4:33.46), and just missed the mark for the 100 IM at #21 (56.20). His younger brother Luke Rodarte rose to his challenge with a #6 time in the 50 breast (27.39) and #11 in the 100 breast (1:00.30).
Honorable mentions also go to Captain Sam Raber for #21 in the men’s 200 free (1:48.98) and Connor Morgan again for #21 in the 200 back (2:07.69). It should also be noted that Sophomore Nick Skorut’s blistering 24.74 in the 50 back would place him at #4, but it was not accounted because it was his lead-off split for the 200 medley relay at Colorado.
